The Watermill is seeking a passionate, collaborative and experienced Senior Technician (LX Bias) to join our Production department.

Working as part of the Production Team on the planning and delivery of productions, the Senior Technician will draw on their expertise in lighting to ensure the highest quality support for the creative team. They will ensure positive and proactive collaboration with the creative teams and to play an active role in the delivery of performances.

We are seeking a Branding Partner to work with us to renew the visual identity of The Watermill Theatre, to include logo, typography core colours and to create brand guidelines for tone of voice and visual brand usage. The new brand will inform a redesign of the website this autumn and as such we aim to have the assets in place by the end of August 2024.


Following the 100% cut to our Arts Council funding in 2022 and a very successful 2023, culminating in winning The Stage Awards Theatre of the Year alongside the National Theatre, we have a new business plan in place to support us to generate the income and funding required to sustain the quality and ambition of our artistic and outreach programmes. This process has helped us to affirm our mission, vision and values and we are now seeking to develop a new visual identity that reflects The Watermill as a thriving, independent theatre; a small but mighty force within the country’s cultural ecology.

The Watermill is seeking committed, organised and enthusiastic Casual Theatre Technicians to join our Production department.

Under the direction of senior colleagues, Casual Theatre Technicians will work collaboratively across the production team to support the safe, efficient and effective delivery of stage, electrics and sound requirements on fit ups, production runs and strikes/get outs. They will also ensure compliance with Health and Safety and relevant legislation.

Attendants will be providing a warm welcome and ensuring a safe and seamless experience for customers. This role would suit someone who enjoys being outdoors and meeting people.

To apply for this role you must be 17 or over. All car parking attendants will receive full training prior to taking on the role and safety equipment will be provided.

We have been making sign integrated performances on our productions since 2016 and we always work with a Deaf “outside eye”. Watch a video here about our BSL style: www.watermill.org.uk/bsl_performances

 

We are always interested to meet new creatives to work with us as our BSL sign integration consultant. The BSL consultant is part of the production journey, working closely with sign performers who create the BSL translation and, in sign integrated performances, are rehearsed into the production. The BSL consultant supports translation and creation of character sign names, which can be done remotely via video call. They also attend rehearsals at The Watermill, when the sign performers work with the speaking actors to create a sign integrated performance.
 
Fees are dependent on the scale of the project, in line with industry standards.

The Watermill Theatre are always keen to expand their pool of freelancer theatre practitioners, facilitators and specialists to support the delivery of their Outreach work. 

We are particularly interested in hearing from practitioners who have experience of working with people with additional needs including young people with autism, young people or adults with mental health illnesses and adults with learning disabilities.

Because of the remote location of The Watermill, applicants should ideally have access to their own transport and be prepared to travel.

Lead facilitator's fee: £38 per hour (+£15 pastoral fee per session, where applicable)

Assistant facilitator's fee: £12.50 per hour (+£10 pastoral fee per session, where applicable)
